John Stacey, Partner

_john stacey.jpgJohn Stacey has 25 years of general management, marketing and sales experience with technology, consumer, Internet and education companies.Mr. Stacey’s marketing expertise and understanding of effective selling for consumer products, services and new technologies have helped numerous companies accelerate revenue while achieving the leading market position. He is a strategic and creative thinker with proven ability as a builder of brands and high performance teams, that consistently grow revenues, increase profits and achieve category leadership.

Mr. Stacey was General Manager of IBM’s Consumer Software Group and President of Edmark (an IBM subsidiary) where he guided World Book to the #1 position over Microsoft Encarta. Prior to IBM, he was Vice-President of Marketing and Sales for The Learning Company during its rise from #3 to #1 in educational software before its acquisition by SoftKey.

Mr. Stacey also served as Vice-President of Marketing for Conner Peripherals during its growth from $250 million to $1.3 billion in revenues over 2 years. He began his career with The Procter & Gamble Company in brand management. Mr. Stacey has also directed marketing for eHealthInsurance during its transition from start-up to the leading health insurance service nationally and Groxis, an Internet based visual research tool for the enterprise and higher education markets.

Mr. Stacey graduated with an MBA from the Harvard Business School and holds a B.S. in Economics and B.A. in French from the University of Virginia. He was a two sport captain and the Outstanding Scholar-Athlete at the University of Virginia. Mr. Stacey continues to run regularly, swim and enjoys the Carolina and California coasts. While a student of business, management and financial markets, he also reads American history and follows U.S. politics since his work on Capitol Hill.
