George Twiss, Partner
George builds and leads direct Sales organizations. With deep executive experience in Manufacturing, Technology, and Services, he is a Certified Sales Executive [CSE] skilled in launching new products and services, coaching and mentoring Sales Teams, and developing results-based compensation and recognition plans. George excels at building relationships of trust and credibility with customers and co-workers and brings complimentary skills in Business Development and Marketing.
He just completed six years at Northwest Center, a self-funding non-profit business providing services to customers along with jobs and support to persons with disabilities. As Group Vice President, Support Services, he led the Group to $10 million Revenue, 250 staff in 7 Business Divisions: Janitorial, Landscape, Maintenance, Food Service, Mailroom, Provisioning, and Admin Services. Under George’s leadership they achieved ISO 9000:2001 Certification of their quality process He was the prime architect of the Northwest Alliance, a consortium of four companies serving the Navy Region’s request for a single contract and increased Navy business by 25%. New contracts with customers such as Amazon, Amtrak, Gates Foundation, Intermec, Lockheed, and Port of Seattle, were added and he grew the Support Services Group to provide 100 more jobs for persons with disabilities while overachieving the Operating Plan for bottom line results.
George’s hands-on leadership includes starting a Business Development group for Photoworks [formerly Seattle FilmWorks]. He led the partnering and implementation teams in forging strategic alliances with AT&T, American Greetings, Visioneer, and Yahoo. Previously, he led initiatives at internet and telecom firms as Chief Marketing Officer at Wolfenet, and as Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Fox Communications. At Prodigy, a joint venture of IBM and Sears, George recruited a new team for sales and marketing of this packaged software product and on-line service. He launched and grew the Northwest customer base from startup to 50,000 users/$5 million annual revenues in three years.
In 16 dynamic years at Xerox, he managed sales and marketing responsibilities at both headquarters and field locations. He was responsible for equipment and supplies sales forces and had success as District Planning Manager, Manager, Sales Training (Corporate), Branch Manager, Product Manager (Corporate), Sales Manager, and Sales Representative. With Xerox, his proudest achievements include earning President’s Club for sales excellence 10 different years – one or more times in every position; capturing #1 ranking in U.S. for Sales Operations [twice]; and building a new, 225-person national sales force - in first year Xerox achieved 107% sales while reducing expense by 10%.
George’s involvement in the Greater Seattle community has been extensive: Rotary Boys & Girls Club – Chair, Board Development; Seattle Pacific University, Executive Advisory Council; Seattle Navy League, Board of Directors. Past service includes Board positions with Senior Services, Community Services for the Blind, Sales and Marketing Executives.
He earned an MBA from Clark University and a BA from Stonehill College – both in Massachusetts. He is married to Pat, a reading teacher in Renton. They have four grown children [with nine degrees and seven grandchildren]! In addition to family, they are active in their church through Marriage Encounter, Eucharistic Ministry, and George’s service as Lector and Finance Council. They enjoy reading and the theater. George is an avid golfer, while Pat is taking up the game.
