Amy Karjala is an experienced nonprofit professional, writer and organizational strategist whose background covers philanthropy from many sides: student to trainer, fundraiser to donor, and grant seeker to grant maker.
Amy joined the George Fox University development team as the grant writer at the onset of its largest capital campaign and secured the university's first grants from a number of national foundations. As Executive Director of Development, she then led the team through a major database transition, presidential change, and the launching of a number of new initiatives.
Joining Mission Increase Foundation as Giving and Training Administrator gave Amy the opportunity to develop biblically-based fundraising workshops delivered to more than 1,000 Christian nonprofit organizations.
At that time, Amy also co-wrote the foundation's book, Coach Your Champions, which presents a Biblical approach to major donor fundraising.
As a sought-after grants expert, Amy has provided grant strategy and writing services to nonprofit organizations both large and small. In her role as strategic consultant for Seoul USA, a Colorado-based nonprofit and consulting group, Amy developed and helped implement strategic communications plans for a variety of nonprofit partner organizations and led development efforts for a ministry to North Koreans.
Amy's passion is partnering with nonprofit leaders to craft their visions, articulate their missions, and develop partners and cause champions.
Amy resides in Beaverton, Oregon and enjoys traveling, hiking, and exploring with her family.
