Ian Garbutt has operated at the executive and C-level for over 30 years in companies ranging from Fortune 500 to small start-ups, and is recognized as a practical, results oriented innovator and change agent. His strengths are working in market-driven new business development, enterprise level strategic planning, product marketing and management, sales management, and leadership development. Ian’s experience and skills have successfully brought executive, technical and marketing teams together, starting at the strategic level down to the tactical implementation phases.
As well as high technology companies, Ian also has experience in aviation, agriculture and consumer markets. His current and recent clients include a private farming enterprise, as a board member and VP of business development; a privately held IT support business; a search engine optimization company where he operates as COO and interim CFO; a bio-medical startup company where he operates as an interim technology executive; a consumer products internet retail business where he advises the CEO on channel development strategy.
Prior to joining One Accord Partners, Ian led a consulting practice and acted as an interim executive providing revenue-directed initiatives in market definition, strategic redirection, channel development, product management and product development. These interim executive positions included software, financial data services, medical equipment, high-tech public relations, electronics manufacturing and software/website localization services. As an executive in these companies, Ian was instrumental in turning around market direction and revenues.
Throughout his career Mr. Garbutt has consistently been recognized for major accomplishments as a strategic change agent, including championing the first-ever branding of products in a Fortune 500 technology company that led to a highly profitable sale of that division. He is known for his ability to create results-oriented communication across the typical boundaries of conflicting disciplines. Ian was born and educated in England and holds a BS in electronics and telecommunications with additional training on fast-response, custom product development. He has accumulated significant additional training in leadership development initiatives and executive level coaching.
Ian is married to Judy and they have four adult daughters, three married, and six grandchildren. Together they work on family growth and mentoring in their community. Ian’s non-work activities include flying, golf, avid reading, playing piano, and ongoing self-development.
