Mike has more than 32 years of leadership in the YMCA, one of the most highly regarded and recognized non-profit organization in the world. He has held a full range of positions including senior level executive roles including President/CEO.
He brings creative and innovative methods of fundraising development in this ever-changing climate of philanthropy—capital campaigns, endowment development, annual funds, special events, major gift solicitations (individuals, corporations, foundations). His work has included working with all market sizes including Houston, Atlanta, South Florida, and Nashville.
Mike has led organizations from budgets of $500K to $16M with strong growth results in earned revenue and donated dollars. He has guided organizations through a merger, viable strategic plans and organizational re-structuring.
He has a passion for developing strong staff and volunteer board/committee teams with clear and concise goals and engagement. Mike has a background in financing, design, proformas and construction of multi-million dollar projects that required feasibility and market studies along with a strong capital development strategy.
Mike earned the highest YMCA professional designation of “Organizational Leader” and is faculty for “Volunteerism”. He served as President of the Florida State Association of YMCA professionals and has lead and developed international partnerships. He has experience in working with organizations in membership growth, diversity initiatives, and asset building initiatives in the community. Mike has served in many volunteer leadership roles within the Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Partnership, Rotary (Paul Harris Fellow), United Way, and other non-profits.
Mike attended Austin College (Sherman, TX) and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Health/Physical Education & Business Administration from Texas A&M (Commerce, TX). He also holds the distinction of being an “Organizational Leader” in the YMCA and a facilitator in “Volunteerism”.
Mike and his wife Karla live in Chattanooga, TN. They have three children, Preston who lives in Nashville, Danielle in Chattanooga, and Brianna who is a junior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
