Product Management & Marketing
Todd Ostrander is a professional with over 30 years of F1000, mid-market and emerging market startup experience. Todd is a visionary with the ability to simplify complex problems and turn them into significant market opportunities. Throughout his career, he has been at the forefront of groundbreaking changes that create new markets and opportunities. While he has a broad range of skills from finance to procurement, strategic marketing and product strategy, his core functional expertise is in exploiting existing markets as well as identifying and creating new market opportunities with specific focus on go-to-market, intellectual property, and capitalization strategies. Within the technology industry, he has specific expertise in workflow management, Software as a Service (SaaS), wireless, digital marketing, and mobility.
Previously, Todd was the acting Chief Strategy Officer at Forza Coffee Company where he was responsible for capitalization, brand and franchise growth strategy for this exciting emerging beverage empire. In this role, Todd enjoyed the benefits of being passionate about both the product and the company.
Todd has participated in the founding of over 10 companies. Most recently, Todd was the founder and CEO of Perlego Systems, Inc., an early stage Venture-Backed mobility company focused on helping F1000 companies manage and track their smartphone assets (both data and physical). Perlego was the first entry into a market (2004) based on a SaaS platform, while at the same time being platform agnostic rather than tied to one platform. The company raised in excess of $12m during Todd’s tenure and successfully launched the market leading product while developing relationships with some of the leading distribution companies in the mobile industry.
Several years before starting Perlego, Todd founded another technology company called ELEKOM in 1995. ELEKOM was the first company launched in what became an $80b eProcurement market by 2000 with head-to-head competitors including Ariba and CommerceOne. ELEKOM was sold to Clarus in 1998 and became a significant player and contributor in this exciting market. Todd was considered an expert in workflow automation and procurement processes and procedures by the time he left Clarus to start his next venture – Essential Markets, Inc.
Essential Markets, Inc. was founded to take advantage of the opportunity created by the eProcurement market where F1000 clients using eProcurement systems needed a consolidator to support their thousands of suppliers that didn’t have the technology to connect to their customers. Todd launched the company and product with over 20 F1000 clients in 12 months based on raising in excess of $35m for EssentialMarkets before the company was flattened on 9/11.
A highpoint of Todd’s career was being named one of Seattle’s Top Innovators in November 2010 by Seattle Business Magazine for his role in creating an early stage company focused on exploiting the early stage electrochromic glass industry.
Todd is a committed husband and father of two boys and a girl. He loves to spend time boating, golfing, hiking and following the Mariners, Huskies and Seahawks. Todd currently sits on the Board of Advisors for the PLU School of Business and as well as on the Board of Directors of South Sound Christian Schools.
